Networking is a great opportunity to leave your office or cubicle, network with Dallas’ finest professionals, and share information within our community. Opportunities to network with people arise at any time and any place.
In April I attended a networking event called Women at the Top of Their Game, at the Las Colinas Country Club. It was sponsored by AXA Financial Group and Ladies Professional Golf Association – LPGA. What an honor it was to be invited by Amine Rizk, DCCCD representative from AXA Advisors LLC! We enjoyed 30 minutes of networking opportunities and 30 minutes of panelists which included AXA Advisors Regional Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, and a LPGA touring pro, Juli Inkster. The panelists shared insights from their experience on the road to becoming “Women at the Top of Their Game” in respective industries.
They also stated that women control 90% of finances/household wealth and only 16% of women seek careers in the financial management. Each professional spoke about her career, the opportunities the business presented to them, work-life balance and flexibility of the industry. Professional golfer, Juli Inkster, who has had a 25-year golf career, originally thought her career would have only been 5 years at best. She was able to stop to raise her children and pick it up again thereafter.
The focus was to highlight successful women who have broken the glass ceiling (and continue to do so) while loving what they do and calling other women to their field. AXA makes recruitment of women to their business a priority and focus because they have a stronger workforce and business due to the diversity of their employees.
Afterwards, we ended the evening getting golf tips from pro golf trainers. I can almost say I have mastered my chipping skills! What a great opportunity to meet women from all types of professional backgrounds and socialize through golf.
